Hello!
My name is Katerina Saranti and I was born and raised in Athens, Greece to a South African born mother and Greek father. My international family and bilingual upbringing have always put me between places, which I think is the most interesting place to be.
I studied Architecture at The University of Edinburgh in Scotland and went on to graduate from my Masters in Architecture in 2020. The unpredictability of the Covid period created an opportunity for exploration of alternative structures of work. That is how I found myself becoming Assistant Art Director on the first film production I had the immense pleasure of being a part of, Light Falls, shot in Athens in 2021 by director Phedon Papamichael. It blew my mind right open and I have been mesmerized by that world ever since.
I then went on to work as a personal assistant on the production of Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny in London, which further opened my eyes to the creativity and layered composition of the cinematic world.
Today I work between worlds, from architecture and design projects to art direction primarily for commercials. To me these two worlds inform each other from the rhythm and composition of space and colour to the spatial language of light and its delicate relationship with storytelling.
I am currently based in Athens, Greece and open to any creative projects you may have in mind.
